Introvert Creates Method for Socializing

Is The Social Network worth watching or not?

The Social Network is about an undergrad student who goes to Harvard University. This student is Mark Zuckerberg, a brilliant computer genius, who creates Facebook. The film is very interesting and shows the struggles that come along with success. It provides a lot of fascinating insight about Zuckerberg. One of the major themes in the film is that an introvert created one of the largest social media networks ever.
I liked the film because it was based on real life events, but wasn’t too boring. It showed that anyone can be successful and provided me with a good amount of new information about how Facebook was created and why it is important to care about more than just yourself. Facebook started as a site called Face Mash, which compared the hotness of female students. In the movie it shows that in order to be successful Zuckerberg had to ruin personal relationships and hurt many different people along the way. The film presents that Zuckerberg believes he is better than everyone else. He shows that he believes this by disregarding Erica, the twin brothers, Harvard in general, and his best friend Edwardo. All of these people try to help him be successful but he ignores their help and pretends they don’t even exist. The movie shows the Zuckerberg does indeed become successful but it also shows the personal and legal troubles he encounters along the way. Zuckerberg may not have went with the best strategies to become successful. The overall film and how the information was presented were both interesting to me.

My personal interests and experiences with Facebook would have led me to believe Mark Zuckerberg was a different type of person than he actually is. Without knowing he is actually a socially-awkward person, with a chip on his shoulder before watching the movie, makes it shocking and intriguing. Although it is a possibility that he created Facebook so he could socialize in an easier manner and could boost his self-esteem by having online “friends” due to him being an introvert.

  1. I also watched the Social network and I also thought that it was a good film. I was surprised that Facebook was created by a person that had few friends and was socially awkward. Also I learned a lot of new things that I didn't know about Facebook before.
